Mayor's Multiplication Bootcamp
A 5-year Old Learns Multiplication
Dr. Stephanie Pasley-Henry implemented a Multiplication Bootcamp with two groups of students for two weeks each. Group 1 consisted of 18 students and group 2, 15 students. Group 1 began with an average score of 48% on the Math Party Multiplication Cumulative Pre-Assessment which included a total 100 multiplication problems; the average score on the cumulative post-test was 86%. Group 2 began with an average of 54% on the cumulative pre-assessment and the average score on the cumulative post-test was 85%. Group 1 improved by 38 percentage points; group 2 improved by 31percentage points. Both groups ascended from a grade of an F to a B in two weeks.
Altogether, 61% of the Mayor’s Multiplication Bootcamp participants started with scores below 70%. 100% of this group improved their knowledge of multiplication facts as evidenced by the cumulative pre-and post-tests administered at the start and end of the 2-week bootcamp.
Each (100%) of the Mayor’s Multiplication Bootcamp participants at the Midtown Cultural & Educational Center improved their knowledge of multiplication facts as evidenced by the cumulative pre- and post-tests administered at the start and end of the 2-week bootcamp.
Ninety-four percent (17 of 18) of the Mayor’s Multiplication Bootcamp participants at the Yvonne Scarlett Golden Cultural & Educational Center improved their knowledge of multiplication facts as evidenced by the cumulative pre- and post-tests administered at the start and end of the 2-week bootcamp.
